We Can Be Heroes does not pay salaries.
Many of our volunteers are Veterans, and all volunteers support the U.S. Constitution.

DONATE TO HOMELESS VETERANS
We Can Be Heroes has been a proud sponsor of the
Clara White Mission Transitional Housing Program and Homeless Veterans Program since 2017.

What we do:
We Can Be Heroes Foundation sponsors the Homeless Veterans Transitional Housing Program and the Homeless Veterans Meeting Room at the Clara White Mission in the highly populated Veteran City of Jacksonville, Florida. We lead donation drives and collect nonperishable food, clothes and goods at events and have volunteers to receive your donations in Duval, Clay and St. Johns Counties of Florida. We serve catered luncheons and join the luncheon to meet and thank each Veteran for their service. Throughout each month, we deliver prepackaged, nonperishable, individual servings of foods, toiletries, personal item and clothing.
What the Clara White Mission’s Veterans Program does:
The Transitional Housing Program provides a welcoming place with 23 dormitory beds for low-income Veterans in need to live while working toward permanent and independent living within 24 months. Residents are required to be employed and/or currently enrolled in school; participate in case management and life-skill classes; complete health and mental health assessment and counseling; maintain required sobriety, and participate in substance abuse education classes and support. As veterans graduate, there is a need for furnishings for their new residence.
The Homeless Veterans Meeting Room is a place for homeless veterans to drop-in and meet with other homeless veterans, and the Clara White Mission Staff for assistance.
What You Can Do:
Donate food and goods shown below, help serve at luncheons, solicit luncheon meals from restaurants, and solicit clothes and merchandise from merchants. If you are a member of a Church, Organization or Group, please consider hosting a food collection for homeless veterans. Call 904 383-8817 for pick up or further information. You can also complete the “Quick Contact” at the bottom right side of our home page.
What is needed:
Food Items: Bottled water and non-perishable, individual serving of prepackaged or canned items with pop-top tabs, such as Vienna Sausage, Beanie Weenies, beef jerky, tuna, sardines, granola, cereal and power bars, fruit cups, cheese and peanut butter crackers, cookies, fruit cups, snack packs or similar.
$15 Gift Cards for stores, such as Dollar General, Walmart, etc. provide a dignified means for veterans to purchase their essential personal items. Gift cards are raffled at Luncheons hosted by the We Can Be Heroes Foundation.
Toiletry & Personal Items: Shower/flip-flop shoes, body soap and wash, deodorant, tissues, lotions, shampoo, mouth wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, nail clippers and files, disposable razors, ditty bags, backpacks, individual sewing kits, tissues, sanitary items & items favored by women. Sample sizes of toiletries, such as those at hotels, are also suggested.
Clothing: Socks, size 8-13, Tee shirts size L – 2XXL, men’s brief size 36-44, belts, shorts, jeans, hats and skull caps.
Bed and bath: Extra Long Twin sheets sets, blankets and spreads; clock radios, bath, hand and wash towels, and new pillows.
Cleaning: Disinfectant sprays, sanitizing wipes, laundry detergent.
Miscellaneous: Foot lockers, umbrellas.
