Community Breakfast Honors Purple Heart Recipients

(JACKSONVILLE) – Local charity We Can Be Heroes hosted a capacity crowd at its “Breakfast with Our Heroes” Saturday, in appreciation of all veterans and in honor of our Nation’s Combat Wounded to celebrate National Purple Heart Day, which is this Wednesday. Tickets for all veterans were complimentary as a token of appreciation for their service to our country.

Veterans with the Clara White Mission volunteered with other Patriots to serve the breakfast, held at Applebee’s on Butler Blvd, and the Atlantic Coast Young Marines chapter welcomed and visited with attendees. Honored guests included Veterans from Chapter 524 Military Order of the Purple Heart, World War II Veterans Walter Atwood and Bob Hall, and other Veterans who served abroad and at home.

“I felt so honored at this breakfast,” Veteran Steve Reynolds said, “Vets who fear being forgotten don’t need to worry here; Jacksonville always remembers its Vets.”
