The Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders
Jacksonville Car Parade

May is Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month, paying tribute to the generations of proud Asians, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders who enriched America’s history and continue today to be instrumental in the success of the United States and its territories.

The Jacksonville-based Asian Pacific Americans of Northeast Florida is opening the month-long celebration with a car parade this Saturday, May 8.  The parade is an opportunity for all Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders to show pride in their heritage and patriotism, and honor those who have served and are serving in our Armed Forces and as community First Responders.

Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders have a rich heritage thousands of years old, including shaping US history—right up to today: Vice President Kamala Harris is the first person of South Asian descent to serve as vice president.

The parade will assemble May 8 at 10:30 a.m. at BJ’s Plaza, corner of Atlantic and Kernan boulevards. Vehicles will proceed east on Atlantic Blvd., south on Neptune Beach 3rd St., west on Beach Blvd., north on Southside Blvd., east on Atlantic Blvd., south on San Pablo Rd. and west on Beach Blvd.

The parade ends at Maharlika Sports Bar & Grill at 14255 Beach Blvd., where a reception for $15 with limited seating is being offered. For reception tickets, contact Mauro Gines, 904-402-1628.

Florida Representative Cord Byrd will welcome participants at the start, and the Parade Marshall is Jacksonville Councilman Al Ferraro. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Chief Matt Nemeth is the Guest of Honor. Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, US Veterans, patriots, and businesses are welcomed to participate in the parade by contacting Gines at 904-402-1628.  Business and Veteran organizations are welcomed to also display their banners, flags, and car magnets.
