Nominate Your Hometown Hero
Recognition Campaign Honoring Hometown Heroes

(JACKSONVILLE) – Throughout our community, Front Line and Unsung Heroes put aside their personal plans and fears to come to the aid of their fellow citizens.   Now is the time to recognize and honor these heroes.  Join the We Can Be Heroes Foundation, K9s For Warriors, City of Jacksonville, and iHeart Media to nominate and recognize community heroes.  Ceremonies will be held at the Jacksonville July 4th family music festival and fireworks celebration and at the We Can Be Heroes Foundation Heroes Gala later in the year.  All local nominees will receive the We Can Be Heroes Foundation – K9s For Warriors Hero Yard Sign and invitation to the We Can Be Heroes Foundation Heroes Gala.

The public can nominate and vote for heroes at the 97.9 KISS FM website for recognition at the July 4th event.  Hero categories include Healthcare, Police, Education, Firefighter, Military, Public Transportation, Grocery/Food Service, and the We Can Be Heroes Foundation – K9s For Warriors special category of Unsung Heroes.  Voting will start two weeks before the July 4 event.  Winners of the contests are to be announced at the July 4th event and included in livestream and Channel 4 broadcasts, on air radio and social media.

The public can continue to nominate heroes after July 4th at the We Can Be Heroes Foundation Website.  Delivery of the Heroes Yard Sign and invitation to the Heroes Gala will continue to be offered to nominees by the We Can Be Heroes Foundation and K9S for Warriors.

“We’re blessed by the Unsung Heroes who walk among us every day.” Said President of the We Can Be Heroes Foundation Beth Heath. “From neighbors reaching out to shop and care for their COVID-19 at-risk neighbors, from the janitorial staff to the medical staff at care facilities, from our beloved police ad firefighters and many others going above and beyond the duty who we’ve sadly taken for granted.  Well done, First Coast Heroes.  May God bless you and America the Beautiful.”
