Help for US Troops in South Korea Announced
at Korean War Remembrance.

The Tribute to Veterans who served in Korea was held at the Annual Korean War Armistice Remembrance at the Jacksonville Naval Museum USS Orleck on July 25, 2024. This date  marked the 71st anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice.  US troops have been serving in defense of South Korea since the Armistice.

Unforgettable stories of those that served and of the USS Orleck extraordinary engagements in the Korean War were told by the President of the Jacksonville Naval Museum retired Navy Captain Daniel Bean, Commander Henry Moreland of the Northeast Florida Korean War Veterans Association, Beth Heath, President of the We Can Be Heroes Foundation and Youngchul Kim of the Korean Association of North Florida.

Attendees were shocked to learn that overseas U. S. troops and families are suffering from hunger issues.  Beth Heath announced that Food Pantries have been set up at U.S. overseas bases for the community to provide food for our military.  The largest overseas base to open a Warriors Pantry is the Army Camp Humphreys, South Korea.  Attendees to the event raised funds for the We Can Be Heroes Foundation to send to Camp Humphreys Warriors Pantry and were asked to spread the word for others to donate. The Tribute included Colors by American Legion Post 137, Taps by Buglar Veteran Jim Steele, Soloist Navy Veteran Paris Winingham, and Escorts by the Atlantic Coast Young Marines, and Mayport Sea Scouts.
