I know I am worthy of this scholarship fund because of my dedication for the young marines program. I have been in the young marines program for a little over 2 years. I have worked hard to earn my Lance Corporal rank in this program. I have done many events and have many community service hours for helping veterans. I have shown dedication in participating in the color guard. My great grandfather Donald Sarver was a Marine in WWII he landed on the beaches of normandy on the third day. My great grandfather was wounded in action; he later received a purple heart. Another one of my relatives, great uncle Marshall, was a fallen soldier in WWII, who served in the Navy and was KIA. Going on this trip will guide me to be closer to both of their footsteps. They were both heroes and given this opportunity will show me what it means to be a hero for this country. I would love to travel across the world to have an educational experience to see the remembrance of WWII and also, where my relatives have fought and served for this country. My Uncle Gerd was a Marine who served our country. He was going to help me for this Europe experience but he recently passed away. This scholarship would be a privilege for me to view where my relatives have been and what they went through serving for our country. The Young Marines program has shown me what it means to have leadership, courage, and discipline. These types of skills help me to stay motivated as a Young Marine. I want to give a personal thank you to all those who have supported me throughout this program and your consideration for this scholarship.
